In a continued effort to bring safety and access to the Ozaukee Interurban Trail (OIT), new traffic lights were installed on Mequon Road to the east of Weston Drive in early June 2026. This new signal is the result of an ongoing and coordinated effort between the City of Mequon, the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad. This is all part of the Mequon Road and OIT Crossing Improvements Project. A few steps remain before the traffic light is activated. Once operational, the signal will default to a green light until the button is pushed by a pedestrian or bicyclist. The lights will progress from green to yellow to red to indicate that cars must stop and allow these individuals to safely cross Mequon Road. Click here to view photos from June 2026.
