The Mequon Police Department currently has two K9 teams assigned to patrol.
K9 Yukon (left) is a purebred German Shepherd born in Allendorf, Germany, on November 25, 2021. While in Germany, Yukon received obedience and basic security training. He arrived in Wisconsin in August 2023 and officially joined the department on November 6, 2023, with his handler, Officer Van Laanen.
K9 Bogey (right) is also a purebred German Shepherd, born in Germany on October 28, 2023. Like Yukon, Bogey received foundational obedience and security training in Germany before traveling to Wisconsin in March 2025. He began his service with the department on June 23, 2025, alongside his handler, Officer Bottoni.
Both K9s were trained at Steinig Tal Kennel in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, and are certified in tracking, narcotics detection, handler protection, suspect apprehension, and building and area searches.
When off duty, Yukon and Bogey live with their handlers and are considered part of their families.
